1/14/2024 0 Comments Calibre dedrmOk, I just installed the 7.2.1 plugin and unfortunately it didn't work. But I guess since I had unzipped it it works? I see the plugin in the plugin list. zip file and it seemed to work, but at first I was confused as I thought it would be zipped and not work. I do have a a (maybe stupid) question- (sorry I'm not extremely tech savvy) -once I unzip the deDRM zip file, which file do I upload to Calibre? I think last time I did the. I'm going to try to install the 7.2.1 plugin and see if that works. I think the problem I'm having is with Calibre because Calibre won't open the book at all because it has DRM, even though I installed the deDRM plugin and I see it in the plugin list. I download the book directly from the web. So maybe it just didn't have DRM (even though I bought it from Amazon.) Now that I think about it, maybe it didn't really work beofre as the other book I converted said "no DRM" inside the book. But it worked before, so I thought it was fine. I believe version 7- I can try to download the new one. My deDRM plugin is an older version because that is what was linked in a earlier post. I'm not sure how to find out what version it is. Maybe Calibre updated without me knowing it, but honestly I just downloaded it the other day. (Perhaps you could unplug from the internet before you start it and turn the auto update setting off). You want to change the setting so that it won't automatically update, but I think sometimes it may beat you to it. Pay attention! I believe it will try to update the kindle version right away. Or install a particular old version of kindle and then try to use the Calibre/DeDRM. If that doesn't work you'll have to go a slightly different route.Įither try epubor (some have had success with this). Also, convert to Mobi if not otherwise doing that. After that everything worked and I haven't touched the software since (still convert books but have not updated anything). I clicked the eInk Kindle Ebooks button and entered my serial number there. In any event, I entered by kindle serial # by going to the DeDRM plugin (go to preferences, plugins, and check user installed plugins).ĭouble click the plugin and it will open a popup. I don't recall ever seeing this in any steps described somewhere so it's possible something just went a little haywire on that first attempt on the new machine. I *think* it didn't work until I added my kindle serial number. I believe the last time I installed this software after building a new machine it didn't work for me initially either. I do also have DeDRM plugin installed in Kindle. ![]() I usually do the "download to USB" as I have an old kindle as well.
